There are so many avenues for educating our children today! We have private schools, public schools, charter schools, home schools, and now, virtual schools!!! How do we navigate all of this and still provide our children with the best possible education?! What kinds of questions should and can we ask as parents? What are the local and national policies? How do we work together?

This is what our K12 Basics Show is all about! We are so proud to share and introduce an incredible woman, Jane Lockett who has worn so many hats! In this first episode, we discuss with Jane all that she has done and why she is so passionate in sharing this information with you.

Jane has worked in K12 Technology since 1972 and was a teacher in Illinois for about 11 years. With her knowledge about technology and being in the trenches, so to speak, she has unique insight on how families and educators need to work together for the success of the children! Jane is the type of woman who is welcomes challenges and encourages parents as well as professionals to think outside the box no matter how uncomfortable it may be.

One of her additional strengths is her experience as a management consultant to large corporations such as IBM. Jane can totally see the big picture and take the necessary steps to make changes happen! This is the passion she brings to her show, K12 Basics!

She is also the owner of Children’s Orchard, here in Altamonte Springs, Florida! With her family, they run this fantastic upscale resale children’s clothing store which enables her to continue working with the families in the community! You will often find her beautiful grandchildren at the store too!

For her future episodes, she wants to discuss with us different aspects of education teaching us the ins and outs of the school systems on both the local and national levels. She’s great at giving us the historical backgrounds which is important for us to hear where our education system has evolved from.

Remember that you can also ask her questions about anything regarding your children’s teachers, problems/issues, ideas, changes that you’d like to make to enhance your children’s experience. Jane gives us the words, the phrases, the insight we need before we meet with the teachers/principals so we truly can function as a team… it takes both you and your teacher to work together for the benefit of the children.

I know you will be as impressed with Jane as I am! When you finally meet her, you will see what an incredible and dedicated teacher she truly is…
